Choosing Soffit

What’s the difference between solid and vented soffit?
Solid soffit boards give a clean, weatherproof finish under the roofline with no perforation. Pre-vented boards (marked with a V, such as GPBV150 or SM200V) include a central vent strip that allows airflow into the roof space, helping reduce condensation and protect roof timbers from damp. Vented soffit is generally recommended for most residential applications.
What is a 3-plank hollow soffit, and when would I use it?
The F312 (Freefoam) and SUB300 (Swish) are both 300mm 3-plank hollow soffit boards, built from three interlocking sections rather than one solid board. They’re typically used on wider eaves where a single board would be impractical, or where a traditional tongue-and-groove timber look is wanted.
Why does Freefoam offer more vented width options than Swish?
Freefoam’s GPB/GPBV range offers a vented version at every width from 100mm to 605mm. Swish’s SM range covers most widths in both solid and vented, though SM100 and SM500 are solid only. Our trade counter team can confirm current stock if you need a specific vented width.
